Shepherd's Column is from the Compositae family. It is a 1-2 year old herbaceous plant that grows in stony and barren lands and fields, 30-100 cm high. It is thin and hooked. It blooms mostly purple and sometimes white flowers in July and August. It has a nice scent when fresh. This scent disappears when it dries.
