Sage Oil – Bitter Apple Oil

Sage oil is obtained by steam distillation from sage leaves.
It is a fragrant plant from the Lamiaceae family, especially grown in the Mediterranean region. Sage species, which can grow between 30-75 cm., are hardy herbaceous or shrubby plants that do not shed their leaves in winter. Their violet-like flowers bloom in June-July.
The square-sectioned hairy trunk becomes woody in the second year of the plant. The gray-green leaves, which usually have a burning smell, are variegated in some species, even red and purple. The double-lipped, deep-chambered flowers are generally purple-blue, while species that rarely bloom in white or pink are also seen. The tiny seeds of the plant are dark brown and egg-shaped. Sage, which usually reproduces spontaneously by seed, can also be produced by stem cuttings if desired.
Sage Oil is also known as Bitter Apple Oil.
