Hand and Nail Care

Beautiful and well-groomed hands not only make a person feel good, but also inspire sympathy in others. However, constantly washing things (especially during housework) damages the hands and nails. The skin cracks, hardens and its natural acidic coating is destroyed. Continuous hand baths and compresses are a necessary care method for worn-out hands to renew themselves.

-Essential oil hand bath

Mix 3 drops of lavender oil, 2 drops of bergamot oil, 10 drops of almond oil with 1 teaspoon of glycerin and add to hot water in a bowl and mix well. Keep hands in the bath for 20 minutes. Then rub hands carefully and apply remaining oil to the skin.

-Olive oil hand bath

Lightly heat 1 cup of olive oil using the double-boiler method, add 15-20 drops of lemon juice and mix well. Keep your hands in this oil for 5-10 minutes.

-Jojoba-rice compress

1 tablespoon of rice flour is mixed with a little milk to make a paste. 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil (or glycerin) is spread on the back of the hand and the rice flour paste is placed on top. After leaving it to act for 10 minutes, the hands are washed with warm water.

-Oil massage

Heat 2 tablespoons of almond or sesame oil to 37-40 degrees using the double-boiler method and massage it into the back of the hand and then the palms using circular movements.

-Fennel hand bath

8 tablespoons of fennel seeds are lightly crushed in a mortar, boiled with 2 cups of boiling water, brewed for 15 minutes and then filtered. After any type of washing, hands are kept in this herbal tea for 2-3 minutes.

Dry and easily broken nails can also be caused by constant contact with effective cleaning agents. Such changes in nails can also be a sign of nutritional deficiencies. For this reason, you should not only take care of your nails externally, but also pay attention to a balanced diet.

-Horsetail hand bath

2 tablespoons of finely chopped horsetail are boiled with half a liter of boiling water, brewed for 20 minutes and then filtered. Occasionally, hands are kept in the herbal tea for 5-6 minutes.

Additionally, drinking 1-2 glasses of horsetail tea a day will also be very beneficial.

-Onion juice massage

You can massage your nails with the juice of a dry onion. This can harden your nails.

-Massage oil

Melt 25g of Vaseline, 25ml of castor oil, 10 drops of almond oil, 25ml of avocado oil, 50ml of jojoba oil in a hot water bath (bain-marine) and mix and transfer to a cream container. Massage this oil mixture onto your nails, which have been thoroughly cleaned beforehand, every two days.

Anti-wrinkle prescriptions (tightening)

*80g lemon juice, 30g carrot juice and 30g cucumber juice are mixed thoroughly and a compress is applied to the wrinkled areas.

*Avocado puree, banana juice or melon juice compresses are applied.

*Boil 1 teaspoon each of finely chopped chamomile and lemon balm with 2 cups of boiling water, let it brew for 15 minutes, then strain and apply compresses. Lavender oil, rosemary oil and rose oil also smooth out wrinkled skin.

Tired Feet

Feet and legs should be well-groomed, especially if they are to be exposed in the summer. Tired and swollen feet and legs can be treated with foot baths and massages, as can unsightly calluses. Such an approach can yield good results not only for beauty but also for health.

Those who wish can take a foot bath or foot massage every day. However, the care that should be applied at least once a week can be as follows: First, a refreshing foot bath can be taken, then the hardened skin layers can be removed with a pumice stone. Finally, a relaxing foot massage with herbal oils can be done.

-Basic foot bath

2 cups of warm milk, 2 tablespoons of honey, 5 drops of lavender oil, 2 drops of peppermint oil are mixed well. This basic foot bath mixture can be enriched with other plant oils or herbal teas as needed. Finally, all of them are added to hot bath water (maximum 37 degrees) and the feet are soaked in this water for 10 minutes, dried thoroughly at the end and thick socks are put on.

In addition, finely chopped calendula flower petals are kept in a glass bottle or jar with a ratio of 1 part and olive oil 5 parts for 2 weeks and shaken occasionally. At the end of the period, it is strained through cheesecloth and the pulp is squeezed well. The calendula oil obtained is mixed with an equal amount of St. John's Wort oil. This mixture is also used in light massages against varicose vein pain in the feet and legs.
