Ginger
Ginger is a representative plant of the ginger family. It is thought to be native to Southeast Asia, but today it is grown in India, Malaysia and some other tropical regions. It does not grow in Turkey because our country's climate is not suitable. The plant, whose benefits have been known in China and India since ancient times, was brought to Europe by merchants and introduced.
It is rich in volatile oil containing zingiberon, zingiberol, fellandron, borneol, cineole citral, starch, sticky plant liquid and resin. Fresh roots are uprooted and sliced and added to some Far Eastern dishes. Dried, ground and powdered roots are used in the production of bread, desserts, pastries, wine and some liqueurs. In addition, ginger powder is consumed as a spice.
The medicinal effects of the plant and the methods of using them can be summarized as follows:
It increases digestive secretions and has carminative effects, thus providing relief in cases of indigestion, gas in the stomach and intestines, and abdominal pain.
According to the latest research results, it eliminates the vomiting reflex and provides relief during travel due to its soothing effects on the stomach.
In cases where blood circulation is insufficient, it accelerates circulation, especially in the capillaries.
It increases sweating in case of fever; with its beneficial diaphoretic effect, it cures colds quickly.
It warms the body in cold weather and increases its endurance.
