Black Head Grass
Black Headed Grass is from the Lamiaceae family. It is a perennial lavender species with a bushy appearance that grows wild among maquis in Western and Southern Anatolia and can grow up to 50 cm tall. It has grayish green hairy, narrow and long leaves with curved edges. Its flowers are blackish dark purple and cylindrical and bloom in spikes in the summer months. The plant reproduces by shedding the seeds that mature from these flowers.
The essential oil (essence) contained in Karabash lavender carries a strong scent that resembles that of the rosemary plant more than that of English lavender.
