Cinnamon Oil
Cinnamon Oil
Cinnamon Oil is a vegetable oil obtained by extraction from Cinnamon barks.
It is from the laurel family. Cinnamon is a tree 6-12 cm tall and has a long cylindrical trunk. When it is 2-3 years old, its trunk is cut 50 cm above the ground and thus countless long spikes emerge from its root. The bark of the 2-3 cm long spikes is peeled and dried.
The flowers are found together at the ends of the branches at the top of the tree and the flowers are quite small and whitish green. The fruits are half-enclosed by rough leaves and are egg-shaped. The leaves are red when fresh, then brownish red and turn green when ripe.
Cinnamon is added to some dishes, desserts and wines as a spice and to give flavor and aroma. Cinnamon essence obtained from the fruit of the tree is used in the perfume industry.
Cinnamon can only be grown in botanical gardens in Turkey because it grows in tropical countries. Today, it is grown as a cultivated plant primarily in Indonesia, Malaysia, Madagascar, Brazil and Jamaica. It contains cinnamic, aldehyde and eugenol.
