It is a tree or shrub from the lily family of the class Echinacea that grows in the Canary Islands. Its trunk is thick.
Its leaves are hard and sword-shaped. They are gathered in bunches at the ends of its branches. A resinous reddish sap, used in dyeing, flows from old trunks. It heals wounds. It stops external bleeding.
