Hawthorn Leaf, Other names: Akdiken, Alış, Geyikdikeni, Kızlar yemesi, Yemişen) It is from the Rosaceae family. Its homeland is unknown. Approximately 20 species of hawthorn, which are widespread almost everywhere in Anatolia, grow in our country. Hawthorn species are thorny trees or shrubs that shed their leaves in winter and are also cultivated for their beautiful flowers.
Among these species, the Hawthorn (C. monogyna), also called hawthorn because of the white thorns it carries, can grow to 2-4 m. Its 3-7 lobed leaves are bright green and have cut ends. Its flowers, which bloom between April and June, are white or pink; its fruits are slightly bittersweet, red and small. Hawthorn species reproduce by the seeds shed from their fruits.
