EUPHRASIA OFFICINALIS L

(Scrophulariaceae-Fam.)

Where it is found: It is found in bushes, meadows and pastures throughout the country.

Structure: It is an annual herbaceous plant with a height of 5-25 cm, with glandular hairs on the upper part of the stem, black brown, branched. The leaves are opposite, toothed, egg-shaped, adjacent hairs. The flowers are white, the upper stop is purple-striped and the lower lip is yellow-spotted, and are located in the upper leaf axils of the stem. The calyx is bell-like with 4 sections, the corolla is 2-lipped, and the stamens are 4. The fruit is a multi-seeded hairy box.

Kullanılan Kısımlar: Saplar kulanılır. Saplar çiçek açma zamanında (Temmuz, Ağustos aylarında) toplanır. Gölgede veya 40 dereyece kadar ısılı fırınlarda kurutulur. Kuru bitkinin sap ve yaprağı yeşil, çiçekleri beyaz veya soluk pembe renkte, kokusuz ve acı tattadır. Kabul edilen rutubet %12 dir. Balya halinde paketlenir. Kuru ve havadar binalarda muhafaza edilir.

Chemical Composition: The plant contains aukobin glycoside, ethereal and oily substances, tannins, bitter and helical substances, resin, blue dye, silicon acid, etc.

In Which Diseases Is It Used: It strengthens the functions of the plant and intestines. It is used in stomach diseases (sourness, belching) and jaundice.

In folk medicine, it is used for eye inflammations, regulates vision, strengthens memory, hoarseness, cough, loss of appetite, etc.

Externally, for inflammation of the eyes and eyelids and eye fatigue, it is kept in a mixture of wine (1/10) for 8 days as a compress. The resulting liquid is used for strengthening and appetite.

Usage: Boil 2 tablespoons of the plant in 0.5 liters of water for 5 minutes. Take a tea glass 4 times a day before meals.
