Where it is found: It grows only in the swampy (stagnum) regions of the high mountains.

Structure: It is a leafless, stemmed perennial herbaceous plant that eats insects, up to 5-10 cm. high. The leaves are round, long-stalked and covered with glandular reddish hairs. It secretes a sticky liquid from these glands and hunts insects with them. The flowers are white and arranged in a row like grapes. The calyx has 5 leaves fused to the base, the corolla has 5 leaves and 5 stamens. The fruit is a box filled with numerous seeds.

Parts Used: The aboveground parts are used. They are collected during flowering (July-August). They are dried in the shade or in ovens heated to 40 degrees. The dry plant is reddish brown, odorless and has a sour taste. Humidity is % 12. It is packaged in bales. It is stored in dry and airy buildings.

Chemical Composition: Contains naphthalene drozerone, vitamin C, anthocyanin dye, apple, lemon and benzene acid, tannins, enzymes, wax etc.

In Which Diseases Is It Used? It has analgesic, astringent, sudorific, diuretic, expectorant, antispastic effects.

In our folk medicine, it is used against whooping cough, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, tubercular cough, jaundice, abdominal fluid retention, atherosclerosis, etc. Externally, the freshly pounded plant is applied as a poultice to calluses and warts.

Usage: 1 tablespoon of the plant is boiled with 400 gr. boiling water, waited for 2 hours, filtered. The boiled is sweetened with honey or nebetsugar. Take a tea glass before meals 3 times a day.
