Hazanbel is from the Araceae family. Its homeland is India. But it is a perennial herbaceous and rhizomatous aquatic plant that has spread to Asia, Europe and America. It grows abundantly on the shores of Sapanca, Yeniçağa and Beyşehir lakes in Anatolia. It can grow 50-125 cm.
During the Ottoman Empire, sorghum was frequently used due to its health-promoting properties, and Evliya Çelebi praised the plant's qualities in his famous work Seyahatname. These medicinal effects of sorghum and the methods of using them can be listed as follows:
