It is a red-shelled, hard-seeded, large olive-shaped and large-sized fruit of a 4-5 m high thorny tree that blooms yellow flowers between April and May, with a pleasant smell. Its outermost wall is leathery and thin, its pulp (soft part) is yellow and sweet-tasting. It is also called Ünnap. It is grown in gardens and can also be found in the wild. Its original homeland is Syria. The trunks of the tree are cylindrical, have dark bark, and are very branched. The leaves are in 2 rows opposite each other, have short stems, and have 2 small leaflets in the shape of thorns. The flowers are 3-6 together and quite small. The sepals are 5-part and green. The petals are yellow, curved and have 5 parts.
It is a chest emollient, cough suppressant, laxative and blood purifier.
It is also used against diabetes.
