Botanical Information: It is a perennial herbaceous plant from the Compositae family, growing to 25-30 cm in height. It has yellow tubular flowers in the middle and pale or dark pink ligules on the sides, similar to those of daisies.
Where it is grown: Its homeland is the Caucasus and it grows in the Erzurum plateaus in our country.
Collection-Storage: Flowers are collected and dried.
Known Composition: The composition of the flowers contains %5 ratio of essential oil, fixed oil, resin and a substance called pyrethrin.
Benefits
The Pyrethrin it contains is very toxic to blood-sucking animals such as fleas, ticks, etc., but slightly toxic to humans, cats, dogs, etc. Pyrethrin shows its lethal effect when it touches blood-sucking animals. Therefore, its other name is pyrethrum. The flowers of pyrethrum are collected and dried. These dried flowers are ground in hand mills and turned into powder. This powdered medicine is used especially against fleas and other insects (such as cockroaches, bedbugs, ticks, ants, and spiders) by sprinkling them in necessary places in homes.
