Where it is found: It grows in shady, humid, stony and rocky mountain areas.
Structure: It is a perennial herbaceous plant. The leaves, which grow from a short rhizome and are almost in the form of a rosette or bunch, have slightly wavy edges, entire edges, shiny, leathery, dark green, serrated, and are 15-40 cm long. Spore sacs that carry spores opposite to the main vein are formed on both sides of the main vein under the leaf. The plant reproduces by means of these spores.
Parts Used: Leaves are collected between May and September. They are dried in the shade or in ovens heated to 45 degrees. The color of the dry leaves is green, odorless and bitter. % 12 humidity is allowed. They are packaged in bags or bales. They are stored in shaded or airy buildings.
Chemical Composition: Not yet finalized.
In Which Diseases Is It Used: It has an expectorant, blood thinning and wound healing effect. It is used in all kinds of coughs, bleeding and liver diseases (calming pain). In folk medicine, ox tongue is used in spleen, watery pleuritis (pleurisy), albumin, kidney inflammations etc.
Usage: 1 tablespoon of ox tongue is boiled with 400 gr. of boiling water, left for 1 hour. Take a tea glass before meals, 3 times a day without boiling.
