STRUCTURE: Short rhizome produces new branches and forms new roots. These have a woody lower part and reach diameters of up to 60-120 cm. Stem is branched, silvery gray hairy perennial herbaceous plant. Base leaves are 2-3 times pinnate and long-stalked, stem leaves are double pinnate, short-stalked or shallow 3-part or entire. Flower receptacles are small, curved, round, single-sided clusters.

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION: (Consisting of terpene alcohol thujone, ketone thujone, a-pinene, cadinene phlandrene, B cariophyllene, y-sepinene, bisabulene and hemazulenogen) etheric oil, absintin, anabsintin, artabsin, catalochone A and B, oxylactone, artemisetin, amber and apple acid, tanning agents, vitamin C, provitamin A, vitamin B6, resins etc.
IN WHICH DISEASES IS IT USED: It stimulates the function of the pancreas and stomach glands, increases the secretion of bile, opens the appetite and facilitates digestion, has an antimicrobial effect. It is used to open the appetite, against anemia, liver and gallbladder inflammation and gas.
In folk medicine, wormwood is used for heartburn, intestinal worms, white discharge, irregular and scanty menstrual periods, malaria, vomiting, epilepsy, pregnancy (strengthens the uterus), angina pectoris, insomnia, appetite, tuberculosis, scrofula, gas, water retention, etc.
Externally, it is used as a mouthwash for toothaches, bad breath, and as a poultice for red nomads, rheumatism, and eczema. It is also used in the beverage and perfumery industry.
USAGE: Boil 1 coffee spoon of wormwood with 300 gr. boiling water and wait for 2 hours. Take a coffee cup twice a day (morning and evening) before meals.
In our folk medicine, wormwood juice is used in the following cases. Garden wormwood (Artemisia Alba) is used against this type of worms, irregular menstruation, tubercular meningitis etc., and its roots are used in epilepsy, tuberculosis, meningitis. (Artemisia Lobelii All.) is used in cases such as kidney stones. Its name is wormwood (Artmisia Vulgaris L.), is used in nervous paralysis, epilepsy and appetite.
ATTENTION! It should never be used in stomach and duodenal ulcers and internal bleeding.
