Calendula Flower

Calendula Flower is from the Compositae family. Its homeland is unknown, but it is frequently grown as an ornamental plant in many places and in our country. It is an annual, hardy herbaceous plant that can grow up to 30-50 cm. Its green, fleshy and juicy stem covered with fine hairs has an angular and branching structure.

The calendula flower contains saponin, carotene, bitter essence, volatile oil, sterol, flavonoids and sticky plant liquid. In order to benefit from the food coloring properties of its yellow or orange petals, they are added to various dishes, cakes, desserts and breads in some places to give a saffron color without containing the saffron taste; the leaves are sprinkled on salads and stews.
