White Henna

White Henna, Henna (Lawsonia inermis), a plant from the Lythraceae family, approximately 2.60 meters tall, which can be defined as a large shrub or small tree, and a powder prepared by drying and grinding the leaves of this plant. This powder is believed to have a healing effect in North Africa. For this reason, some tribes use this powder in their ceremonies.

Originating from Northeast Africa, the plant is widely grown in North Africa, India and Sri Lanka. It has thorns and white flowers; it has dark green leaves that are about 2-3 cm long, pointed and have various dyes and tannins. The leaves are powdered and used to dye hair, nails and fingers. In addition, in Turkish customs and traditions, henna is applied to brides and grooms and men sent to the military.

Henna powder, which gives a red color to the tissue it dyes, is available in two main types in trade: brown and green henna.

Experts also state that the idea that natural henna wears off after a certain period of time and the pigments that give it color disappear over time and its color becomes whiter is wrong, and that it is not possible for the color pigments to disappear.

Colorless Henna:

The coloring feature of henna is simply eliminated and only hair care is done with the henna powder obtained. The method of obtaining it is briefly as follows; after henna is mixed with water, it is wrapped in foil while it is in dough form and dried in the sun or in an oven at 50-60 degrees. The dried henna obtained is mixed with certain oils and only hair care is done.

White Henna;

Since prehistoric times, people have always been curious and eager to learn, and have pursued two goals throughout history after meeting some of their basic needs.

First; People tried to transform the worthless minerals in nature into gold, a known valuable commodity, and this effort formed the basis of alchemy and therefore of today's chemistry.

The other; People have tried to find the elixir, the elixir of immortality and beauty, which they are still trying to find from prehistoric times to the present day.

White henna, which has been used since ancient times in regions such as Mesopotamia, the Nile River and its surroundings, and the Arabian Peninsula, where human history was shaped, has been used in beauty and skin care throughout human history. Even in Anatolia, there are still elderly grandmothers and elders who wash their hair only with white henna. For this reason, in certain parts of Anatolia, in Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula, Egyptian clay is called white henna. With the minerals it contains and its strong anti-oxidant properties, white henna has been the key to epic beauties in mythology and ancient Greece. Clay tablets, clay jugs, and storage containers dating back thousands of years have preserved their strength until today. It has been known throughout history that it is good for the skin and scalp and provides care.
