Where it is found: It is found in humid, shady, rocky places up to 1000 m above sea level.

Structure: A multi-branched, creeping or climbing plant that clings to surrounding objects by means of many airy roots. Leaves; always green, shiny, leathery, egg-shaped, heart-shaped or palm-like. Flowers are yellowish green semicircular, the flower cluster is in clusters, fruits are round, black-blue when ripe.

Kullanılan Kısımlar: Yapraklar; bitki çiçek açtığı zaman (Haziran- Ağustos) toplanır. Gölgede veya 45 dereceye kadar sıcaklıktaki fırınlarda kurutulur. Kuru yaprak yeşil, kokusuz ve acı bir lezzete sahiptir. %12 rutubete müsaade edilir. Kağıt torbalarda paketlenir. Gölgede, kuru ve havadar binalarda muhafaza edilir.

Chemical Composition: Contains saponins, hederin glycoside, cholesterin, pectin, inoxide apple and ant acid etc.

In Which Diseases Is It Used: It calms the inflamed glands. It is recommended to use against the chronic salivary glands of the organism (cold, sore throat, inflammations, tuberculosis and rickets). It also has an astringent, diuretic, vasodilator (in small amounts) and astringent effect in large amounts. It is used in swellings caused by rheumatism, gout, leucorrhoea, liver and gallbladder diseases, and excessive menstruation.

In folk medicine, it is used for spleen inflammations and boiled fruits are used as a slimming agent. It is recommended to use it externally as a poultice on burnt areas, for washing eye inflammations, etc.

Usage: 1 tablespoon of the plant is boiled in 0.5 liters of water for 10 minutes, filtered and taken as a tea glass three times a day before meals.
