Raspberry
The raspberry plant, which produces its strawberry-like fruits called raspberry in summer and autumn, is from the Rosaceae family. The homeland of raspberry, which grows in many regions of Asia, Europe and America, is not known for sure; but the word "ida" in its scientific name brings to mind the ancient Kazdağı region in our Aegean region. The trunk of the plant is perennial; its shoots, which can grow up to 1-2 m in length and are covered with thorns, are biennial. These shoots begin to bloom their white flowers in clusters in each axil at the beginning of summer of their second year.
While the flowers mature and turn into fruit, new flowers continue to bloom. The raspberry's mass fruit, consisting of fleshy and juicy vines, is red in color and contains hard seeds inside the vines. However, there are also raspberry species that produce fruit in white, purple and black colors, and also produce fruit for a second time in the fall season.
Raspberry fruit, which has a very pleasant taste and smell, spoils quickly. Therefore, it is eaten fresh. But it is suitable for freezing. In addition, raspberries are consumed by making syrup, juice, candy, jam, marmalade, jelly, ice cream and liqueurs.
